about

This is a track off my upcoming Album, The Nature of Compassion, being released on 4/22/2017. I'm releasing this single 2 months early because it is the anniversary of the events that inspired the song.
This song is inspired by Sophie Scholl and the the White Rose resistance group. You can learn more about them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rose

Sophie Scholl was executed 74 years ago today (February 22, 1943) for taking a stand against fascism. She is an inspiration to us all.

It is believed that among her last words were: “How can we expect righteousness to prevail when there is hardly anyone willing to give himself up individually to a righteous cause. Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter, if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?”

lyrics

In dark times when shadows grow long
And the evil powers choke off all song
The young in hopeful whispers say
Such a fine, fine sunny day
Such a fine, fine sunny day

When those who know better live in fear
And believe that God has turned a deaf ear
The young with hopeful hearts still pray
For a fine, fine sunny day
For a fine, fine sunny day, they pray

Such a fine sunny day and you’ve got to go
Your life and your death won’t be for nothing, oh no!
To reclaim the future that was from the taken
By the millions the young, they will awaken
On this fine, fine sunny day
On this fine, fine sunny day

Though faced with certain doom
Still the white rose, it will bloom
And the young people with Sophie still say
Such a fine, fine sunny day
Such a fine, fine sunny day, the say

Such a fine sunny day and you’ve got to go
Your life and your death won’t be for nothing, oh no!
To reclaim the future that was from the taken
By the millions the young, they will awaken
On this fine, fine sunny day

Such a fine sunny day and you’ve got to go
Your life and your death won’t be for nothing, oh no!
To reclaim the future that was from the taken
By the millions the young, they will awaken
They’ll awaken, yes they’ll awaken, reawaken
On this fine, fine sunny day
On this fine, fine sunny day
On this fine, fine sunny day
